East Midlands Euro election results, June 13, 2004

For city council election results, see below

Of the 12 UKIP candidates elected to English seats on Sunday, two were in the East Midlands, where the results for the main parties reflected the national pattern (writes our elections reporter).

Of the East Midlands quota of six MEPs, the other four were the two Tory sitting members, Roger Helmer and Chris Heaton Harris, Labour’s Phillip Whitehead, who also held his seat, and Liberal Democrat Bill Newton Dunn, also re-elected.

The UKIP leader, whose colourful campaign in our region overshadowed his five colleagues on the party’s list, also overshadowed many of his opponents.
