New Restaurant for Downtown Derby

Leo's Down Under Opens on March 25


         Leo P. Moscato, Jr. will meet fire with food in an open kitchen experience dubbed Leo’s Down Under at his Culinary Arts Studio 275 located in Derby, Connecticut. Moscato is a graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and has extensive knowledge of the food industry. Leo served as Chef des Cuisines of the well renowned Olde Birmingham Restaurant which The Twisted Vine Restaurant currently occupies.

 Leo’s Down Under will serve as a very unique dining experience and will be open for the first time to the public on March 25, 2010. Come savor classic bistro fare, enjoy fresh food, and quench your thirst as you watch Chef Leo masterfully prepare each distinctive dish. Leo will recreate specialties of the past and introduce fare such as exquisite veal, beef, fish, seafood, game and fresh pasta dishes with a European flair. Desserts will be made in house by a professional French pastry chef and will serve to delight customers as a perfect ending to a magnificent meal. Customers are welcome to “bring your own” as there is no liquor license on premise. In addition to inviting guests to a bistro dining experience, Leo’s Down Under at Studio 275 also is available for on and off premise catering and special events. 

Leo’s Down Under will be open Thursday through Saturday 6:00 – 10 p.m. serving dinner only. Walk-ins are welcome and reservations are suggested with a party of 5 or more. Credit cards are accepted. Look for the 1930’s style neon sign manufactured by Signs Unlimited. Parking is available in the Derby Municipal Garage and on street only. Reservations and information call 203-732-3330. Leo’s Down Under is located at lower level of the Benanto Real Estate Office at 275 Main Street at the corner of Elizabeth and Main Street in Derby, CT next to The Twisted Vine Restaurant.
