The Derby Athletic Hall of Fame was started in 2015 by a group
of dedicated volunteers whose purpose is,
"...to increase awareness of the rich and storied history of Derby High
School Athletics and the outstanding players, coaches and other relevant
personnel who have represented the school and community with pride and
dignity over the years. By introducing new generations of Derby youth to the history of its many sports triumphs, perhaps a grassroots interest in continued success will take hold." The current committee members are Mike Cannici, Ray Silvernale, Jenn Moffat, Dan Shea, Walt Biesadecki, Steve Owens, Brent Cavallaro, Bob Ahearn, Fran DeGennaro and Tom Abel. Derby also has a city Hall of Fame dedicated to Derby natives and residents who have helped to shape the course of history through their achievements at the local, state, national or international level.
