Serenity Prayer has a Derby connection!

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference."

This famous prayer, known best as the "Serenity Prayer" was composed by a man recently cited as President Obama's favorite philosopher. It is also used widely by many twelve-step help programs including Alcoholics Anonymous. It was written by the man pictured above. For this quiz, we want to know his name. However to get full credit for a correct answer, you also have to tell us how he was connected to Derby - after all this is a Derby history Quiz.
