The Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 28th,
2012 is hosted by Derby this year! Come down and watch the parade with your
friends from the Derby Senior Center. We will have a limited number of chairs
reserved in the front of the building for your viewing pleasure. Members are
welcome to come watch with us.
$10.00 Haircuts will be held Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012 from 10 am to 12 noon.
Hairdressers from Hair on the Go at Studio 68 will be here to provide $10
haircuts. Please call (203) 736-1484 or sign up at the front desk for an
appointment.
We have ping pong and pool tables available for your pleasure on the bottom
level. Let’s put them to use! Anyone interested in participating in pool or ping
pong tournaments, stop by the office.
Have extra yarn lying around and no use for it? Our knitting and crocheting
group could use any extra yarn you may have. Drop it at the office. We really
appreciate it!
The Glee Club is really looking for some male vocalists to join them as they
start back for the 2012 season. Stop by the office to find out about signing up.
They start back to rehearsals March 5th.
Monthly Casino Day Trip will be to Mohegan Sun this month on Wednesday, May
30th, 2012. The cost is $24.00 per person. This includes three bets, food
voucher, and transportation.
Monthly Blood Pressure readings will be held Tuesday, May 29th, at 10:30 AM.
We are looking to set up a walking club once the beautiful Spring weather kicks
in! Stop by the office and let us know if you would be interested!
Tuesday, May 8th, 2012, Bingo will be hosted by Birmingham Healthcare. Come down
and enjoy what they have to offer!

for all their assistance with our first bacon, sausage, and egg breakfast.
Without them, it would not have been successful. We look forward to offering
this again in June! We would also like to thank Marc Weissman for stopping by to
play some piano for our members. They thorough enjoyed his music!

Elderly Commission meeting will be held Monday, May 7th, 2012 at 3:00 PM.
Thursday, May 17th, 2012 at 12:00 PM we will be celebrating all the special women in our lives with the Mother’s Day Luncheon. Sign up starts Monday, May 7th and ends May 15th. We will be providing a buffet style lunch of Caesar salad, bread, chicken francaise, green bean almondine, baked potato, and dessert. Whether you are mother, aunt, sister, or friend, please stop by and celebrate this special day with us. All are welcome. Entertainment will be provided.
It is that time of year again! The Glee Club Spring Concert will be Thursday, May 10th, 2012 at 1:00 PM. The concert is free, but there will be a $3.00 fee if you would like to have lunch before the concert. Please make sure to sign up either way so we will have a count for dessert. Lunch will be sliced turkey with gravy, apple stuffing, bean blend vegetables, whole wheat bread, fresh pears, and pineapple juice. We look forward to seeing you there! The theme is 40 years of music!

Monday, May 14th, 2012 we will be hosting a Lifeline Screening Event. This is a wonderful way to keep track of your health. For $149, you will receive a Stroke/Carotid Artery Screening, Heart Rhythm Screening, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening, Peripheral Arterial Disease Screening, and Osteoporosis Risk Assessment. We hope you will take advantage of this life saving screening.
May Birthday Bingo will be held Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Please sign up from May 8th through May 18th. Every month we will be having a special Bingo to celebrate the monthly birthdays. We will have table prizes and a birthday cake. Please tell us if you have a birthday in May when you sign up. This will allow us to help you celebrate! We look forward to making your birthday month a special one.
Memorial Day Card Party is Thursday, May 31st, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Please sign up May 15th through May 29th. Our card parties are a great time get together with friends and let us spoil you. Sign up for a table! There will be table prizes, a raffle, and special dessert. When signing up, let us know if you would like to enjoy lunch before the party for a $3.00 charge. Lunch will be pork loin with gravy, fresh sweet potato, peas and carrots, apple sauce, pumpernickel bread, and birthday cake.
